Why is emotion-focused journaling so difficult/unproductive at times?
While therapists, wellness professionals, and self-help guides all talk about the power of journaling, very few provide tools for navigating the most difficult parts of journaling: your own emotional barriers. {Back to Self}’s 2-part workshop dives deep into the unconscious thresholds we carry, providing actionable, practical tools for starting and maintaining an intentional journaling practice.
More than just "how to journal," this workshop breaks down the psychology behind journaling:
How do my expectations, fears, cultures, identities, and learned habits all show up when journaling?
How can I productively manage these parts of me to build a practice?
How can journaling help strengthen my relationship with myself and others?
What are some tools to help me break emotional thresholds in journaling?
Your emotions are at the root of your behaviors, desires, and needs. Get to know what they are.
This 2-part, weekly series will use guided reflections, frameworks, group discussions, and journal prompts to help you identify your personal barriers to journaling, practice key grounding techniques, and shift the way you process emotions. It will be tailored to the group, with room for individual reflection and unpacking.
Sessions will be from 3-415PM EST each Sunday with optional Q&A after each session. You’ll be able to message Jess anytime during the series, and you can schedule an additional 1-on-1 with Jess if you purchase the Class + Private Session package for a more personalized conversation on integrating journaling into your life.
All participants will receive free downloadable prompts and worksheets to continue their practice far beyond the workshop.

FEB 28 | DAY 2 - NAVIGATING DIFFICULT EMOTIONS + BUILDING A PRACTICE
How do you remain grounded, aware, and compassionate when journaling through your most difficult emotions? How can journaling become a tool that you come back to over and over again?
